About my passion for lino printing

It's one thing to hold a brush and lead it over a canvas. But it feels very different to hold an extra sharp cutting tool in your hand and carve furrows in the linoleum.

On a good day, only the linoleum gets cut. On less fortunate days the cutting tool leaves a furrow on your skin.

Lino Printing can be an extremely challenging adventure.

First comes the planning process. The picture gets mirrored. This step also includes the arrangement of the different paint layers and what pieces need to get carved away at what printing step.

The second step is the actual carving. This step requires the most concentrated work ethic.

The third and last step is the printing itself. I like the soggy sound when the brayer rotates over the wet paint. The repetitive movements of the printing process feel relaxing.
