Unter 4 Augen - Private Talk

In German, we use the term "unter 4 Augen", indicating a "private talk". I always wondered if we do not allude to "four ears".

Our words find their way through the ears into the mind of the listener.

But during working on these paintings the realization hit me hard that yes, the ears record the words, the sound, the melody of the speaker.

But the eyes give you trust, recognition, and even warmth.

You receive a second layer, insurance to detect lies.

The eyes are an essential part of every conversation.

BTW I rather detect lies while hearing. Seeing can feel overwhelming, like an information overload.
